The use of mind-maps in the process of continual professional education
Abstract
The article describes one of the issues of the day: the use of mind-maps in the process of continual professional education. The main purpose of it is the promoting of the effectiveness of the following moments: the formation of foreign lexical skills, teaching speaking English, doing different communication oriented exercises. Special attention is paid to the structurally substantive characteristic of mind-maps and also to the analysis of different opinions of some scientists as far as the advantages of mind-maps compared to other means of teaching English are concerned. The authors also suppose it necessary to describe in full detail the recommendations for making mind-maps. The authors try to use the advice of the inventor of mind-maps – T. Buzan. In the final part of our article we give one of the examples of working with mind-maps during the courses of raising the level of teachers’ skills “Some peculiarities of teaching a foreign language in the process of realization of educational conceptions in the organizations that use comprehensive curricula” and analyze the results we’ve reached.
